Best 12 of 2012

Hey everyone!
Today I will be sharing my top 12 favorite products for this year! These go in no particular order. Hope everyone has a wonderful 2013!

1. Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
There are so may different colors in this palette which adds so much versatility to any look.

2. Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sin
As you all probably know, I love this eyeshadow! It's a perfect simple shade and so pretty and pigmented!

3. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Last Urban Decay product! But honestly, this is worth it! Without this, my eyeshadow would be long gone on my eyelids.

4. Maybeline Great Lash Mascaras
I'm kind of cheating here because I'm counting two products: the BIG version and the Lots of Lashes one. I really love both!

5. Fresh Supernova Mascara
With one coat of this, your eyelashes get nicely separated with a natural touch of black. Keep adding more coats to lengthen! I also love the formula!

6. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment
I know, you all were waiting for me to say this. I can't seem to say it enough how amazing this product has been!

7. EOS Lip Balm "Summer Fruit"
This is a really nice lip balm. Although I find it not as buttery, I guess, or like thick as the Sugar Treatments, it definitely is deserving of a spot here.

8. CVS Pharmacy Targeted Acne Spot Treatment
Not only is this a favorite for this year, but also last year. It may not help you, but it certainly does for me!

9. Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
This is a really great relaxing cleanser and also very good for your skin too.

10. Tresemme Thermal Creations
Now I don't normally talk about hair products, but this hair protector is by far my favorite. It smells great and leaves your hair really soft and shiny.

11. nails inc. Magnetic Nail Polish: Whitehall
The magnetic affect really does work but that's not the only reason why I love this. It dries quickly, the brush isn't too big or too small so it doesn't allow a huge glob of nail polish or none at all.

12. B&BW Body Butter
I have Moonlight Path and Carried Away in body butter and love it. I find they're so moisturizing and they smell good too!

Again, hope you all have a wonderful year ahead! -Kait

My Christmas Decor

Hey everyone!
Along with beauty, reading, and writing, I also love to interior design. So I put these photos together of a few small areas in my room where I have some decorations. Normally I don't decorate my room, it's just the house decorations, but this year I decided to be a little more festive!
Hopefully this may give you some inspiration before the holidays hit! Some of these are self-explanatory, but I will talk about a few. First of all, in the top right I put out my holiday lotions from B&BW. Below that, I actually stuck that ornament into that little tree. In that white dish there used to be bracelets, but I filled it with silver and gold themed candies-Hershey Kisses and Rollos. I don't know where any of this stuff is from- wait... The sparkly silver Christmas tree I got at Walgreens last year for $1! But the stockings I received and the Christmas tree my mom gave me. And obviously, the lotions are from B&BW!
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday! Talk to you soon!

TAG: Winterlicious

Hey everyone!
So I was tagged by Grace from Preppy on the West Coast to do this tag, and I thought how fun would this be! Enjoy!

1. Favorite Winter Nail Polish?
I have been loving nails inc. 'The Boltons' and I have a NOTD post for it.

2. Favorite Winter Lip Product?
For me, it has to be a lip balm. Especially when it's the Fresh Sugar kind.
By now, you all probably know about my obsession. But trust me, they are amazing.

3. Most Worn Clothing Piece?
Sweaters/Cardigans! I wear sweaters and cardigans all the time. I have been wearing
my LOFT Cardigan a lot, it's a heavy material but still fits lightly and I love it! I also
have an Abercrombie sweater that's a size bigger and a thicker material too.

4. Most Worn Winter Accessory?
One word: UGGS. Where I live, my feet feel frozen when I wear
other shoes. They're just so comfy, cute, and warm!

5. Favorite Winter/Candle Scent?
My mom doesn't trust me with candles, haha, probably smart, but I have been using
B&BW Vanilla Bean Noel and love the scent!

6. Favorite Winter Beverage?
I have been drinking tea about every morning, but I also love this Candycane
Cocoa Mix my mom got.

7. All Time Favorite Christmas/Holiday Movie?
To be honest, I don't watch a lot of Christmas movies, nor do I have a favorite.
But I'll just be my obsessive weird side for a moment and say The Hunger Games. :)

8. Favorite Christmas/Holiday Song?
Hmmm.... any of the originals like Frosty the Snowman or Winter Wonderland. It gets me into the spirit more than the modern twist of the songs.

9. Favorite Holiday Food Treat?
Angel Pie. Third favorite food. I don't know if it is a family recipe but it's so good!

10. What is your favorite decoration this year?
In my room, I hung 4 little stockings on my headboard which I love. I will probably
do a post showing you all what I did to my room!

11. What Tops Your Christmas Wishlist This Year?
A Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC in soft gray! And I got one... because I may have, may have not, looked at a Christmas box with a SHIP FROM: REBECCA MINKOFF.... oops?

12. What are your plans for the holidays this year?
What I do every year! I spend time with my family and it's so fun. :)

I TAG ALL OF YOU.

NOTD: nails inc. 'The Boltons'

Hey girls!
nails inc. - Nail PolishI feel like my posting has not been going well, I have been very busy and I'm super sorry about that. But, I wanted to share the current nail polish I'm wearing that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. Here's the link, and as of writing this (which will be a few minutes before I post it) it's sold out! Hey, at least you know I'm telling the truth, haha. This is a rich red with lighter red sparkles. It came across a little orange in the picture to your left, but it can in some lighting. I was at the orthodontics an hour ago and it came across berry. You can see it a little better in the other picture from Sephora (linked above). I really love nails inc. and highly recommend this nail polish, especially for the holidays! I think I am just going to keep painting my nails this color for the entire December.

Christmas Wishlist!

Hey Everyone!
As you can tell from the title, I'll be sharing what I want for Christmas this year. I have a few specific things I like to get, but I also tell my mom to surprise me! I have a Christmas Wishlist on my other blog for books. In general, I ask for beauty products and clothes. I will not receive all of these things, and my mom (she does the shopping) may change out one thing with a different beauty product or something. Anyways, here's the list:

~iPhone 4S White

I really want a Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC because I have a really large tote, and then a few small bags. Some are from Vera Bradley, and I have one wristlet from Coach. I figure that if I do get this, I will use it so much and keep it for as long as it live, which may be as long as I live, haha.
I also want a new phone, specifically the iPhone. My dad has one, my brother has 2 iTouches (one of them the screen is missing, so even if he did give it to me, I wouldn't do much with it, and he still uses it), and my mom has an iPad. I have an iPod nano, lol. I got it in fourth grade and it has a bunch of other songs on it and stuff, so I never really use it. You may see now why I want an iPhone. My phone is also due for an upgrade this month. :)
For the LUSH goodies, I haven't tried LUSH out and I really want to! Especially the bath bombs!
The Hunger Games=<333333333333 times 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000.... (get the point?) plus Nail Polish= <3 and when you put them together <3333!
I feel as though I don't have to explain my obsession (with THG) and the Fresh Sugar Lip Balms and products. So yeah.
As some of you know, I am also obsessed with YouTube, and of course, I watch Elle and Blair! I have been watching them for a long time (ish) and wanted to support them in a way other than watching all their videos!
For the PB Teen thing, I have been wanting this for what feels like forever, and so I just decided to ask for it for Christmas!
Let me know what your asking for for your holiday in the comments!

My Top 5 Winter/Christmas Products on 'Preppy on the West Coast"

Hey Everyone!
Sorry I haven't posting regularly, school is so hectic! But I do have a special treat for you all! I did a guest post for Grace on her amazing blog, Preppy on the West Coast. And if you're feeling extra generous, you can follow her blog too! I had so much fun making the guest post, and if any of you are interested in doing one for this blog (or my book blog), let me know in the comments or check out my contact page and email me. My Top 5 Winter/Christmas Scents

Hey everyone!
I absolutely love this time of year, so I will be making a bunch of posts related to winter/Christmas! Today's post I decided to share with you are my top five favorite scents. You can actually find all of them at Bath and Body Works, except the last one which is by PINK. B&BW does have PINK products, and I looked online, but they didn't have the scent I wanted.

1. Vanilla Bean Noel
This scent to me smells exactly like roasting marshmallows. It's sweet, but not overly. It's a cozy type of scent if that makes sense to you.
2. Twisted Peppermint
Of course, this scent is very minty smelling. It has a little bit of a sweet side to it, but it's mostly just minty!

3. Winter Candy Apple
I've never smelled a candy apple before; however, I'm assuming that is what this scent smells like. It smells sweet with a little twinge of something else.

4. Moonlight Path
This scent is part of B&BW Signature Collection, not the holiday one. It's a musky, floral scent that I really like for the fall/winter time of year.

5. PINK's Soft and Dreamy
This scent also reminds me of Vanilla Bean Noel in a way, but they do smell different. This has a whipped cream type of scent. (I had to look this one up :P)

Collage made here.

The Versatile Blogger Award!

Hey everyone!
So I logged on to my account today and found out that Grace from Preppy on the West Coast nominated me! Thank you so much Grace, it really means a lot, and for everyone else, you have to check her out! And I'm not just saying this because it's a polite thing to do!
If you are nominated, you've been awarded the Versatile Blogger Award. Thank the person who gave you this award and include a link to their blog.
Answer the fifteen question the nominator left for you. Next, select fifteen blogs/bloggers that you've recently discovered or follow regularly.
Nominate those fifteen bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award with a link to their blog.
Ask those bloggers fifteen questions.

Grace's Questions:
1. What's one season you wish could last all year?
Fall! The weather is so nice like 30's-50's so it's chilly, but not freezing like winter. I love the fashion, the trends and so much more!

2. If you could only shop at one store for the rest of your life, what store would you choose?
Hmm... well, probably Target or WalMart. My Target is actually like a 30-40minute car ride away, but I would want to pick a place that had clothes, makeup, books, etc.

3. When in doubt, what nail polish do you paint your nails?
Probably nails inc. magnetic nail polish in whitehall. It is more of a Fall color, but since it does have a magnetic affect, some parts are medium blue, while others are dark blue. Plus I love the quality! I have a review here!

4. What's your go to comfort food?
Chocolate lol. Best food ever!

5. What's one song that perks you up when you're down?
Ok, I'm not joking when I say "Let's Not Play Pretend" from YouTube. Click here to hear it! Idk, call me crazy because it is related to The Hunger Games, but it reminds me of when I first read it and it just makes me soo happy! LOL

6. Do you have a Pinterest?
No!

7. Favorite Starbucks winter drink?
I actually don't go to Starbucks often. My parents prefer Dunkin Doughnuts, and there's one a few minutes away, so I mostly go there. I've only had Starbucks twice! But from those times I do love it and I want to go more! However, from D&D I always get a vanilla bean and coffee coolata mixed!

8. What's on top of your Christmas List this year?
iPhone 4S! Right now I have an LG Ally which I love so much, but I really want an iTouch and since my contract is up this December, I thought it's a good idea to upgrade!

9. What's one thing you can never leave your house without?
My phone! I always bring it with me.

10. Can you tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi?
Yeah, and I prefer Coke... actually I don't know. Coke can give me a stomach ache, I forget if Pepsi can haha.

11. What's your dream career?
Author!! Ugh. That would be great.

12. What's the one food you look forward to the most about the holiday season?
Angel Pie.... Oh my gosh... I'm not sure if it's a family recipe, but it's a meringue pie crust with whip cream and then shaved semi-sweet chocolate on top... yum.

13. Do you ski or snowboard?
I've actually never down either, even though in my state it snows a lot. (It already snowed once, about  two weeks ago!)

14. Ideal place to spend your holiday (i.e. tropical escape or snowy getaway)?
I honestly wouldn't want to spend it anywhere else. :)

15. Favorite holiday movie (i.e. A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Holiday, Love Actually, etc.)?
I actually don't have one. I've seen Elf so many times that I don't love it anymore. And a lot of the holiday movies I've seen are kid ones, like Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman. (Great movies BTW) But I will just say The Hunger Games because I will most likely watch that Christmas break! Obsessed much?

My Questions: (Mine are also very Winter/Holiday related!)
1. Favorite Holiday Scent?
2. Did you go Black Friday Shopping?
3. Favorite holiday memory from when you were a child?
4. Last time you were out of your state?
5. Favorite place to go to?
6. Thing you cannot live without during the holiday/winter season? (Ex. Lip Balm, scarves, etc.)
7. Do you go out in the snow (Sled, ski, snowboard, etc)?
8. Fashionable mittens or a cute hat?
9. Favorite holiday drink?
10. Top 3 favorite books?
11. Do you open presents under the Christmas Tree or go to your stocking first?
12. Writing or Reading?
13. If you had to get a wild animal as a pet, what would it be?
14. Do you wear festive clothing for the holidays?
15. Favorite holiday dessert?

I nominate:
YOU! I'm not going to tag people individually so you can do this if you want to! :)

Great Deals on my Favorite Lip Balm (Fresh Sugar Lip Balms)

Hey everyone!
I was looking around at Sephora and looking at their gift sets and saw that Fresh came out with a bunch of sets involving the Fresh Lip Balms. These are by far my absolute favorite lip balm! I have a review here. Anyways, I would love to have a billion of these, but they are very pricey at $22.50. Like I said, I found quite a few of these sets including them, and so for those who haven't tried them out yet or love them like me, I decided to post links down below for you all! This is not sponsered or anything, but I thought it would be a good idea to share with you all!

Sugar Berry Merriment Set $28 (I got this last year except that the lip balm was Rose and there was High Noon instead of the scrub.)

Sugar Addiction Mini Lip Collection $48

Kissing Ritual $25

Sugar Perfection Duo $22.50 (This is probably going to be on my wishlist for Christmas!)

Sugar Soiree Mini Lip Collection $68 (Contains 8 Products)

Sugar Kisses Mini Lip Trio $28

I didn't put all of them, but if you do get to try them out, let me know what you think! -Kait

TAG: What's Your Nail Style?

Hey Everyone!
So I saw Becca from Looks and Books with Becca do this tag, and I really recommend you do it and check out her blog! (If you had to do one, definitely look at her blog- it's awesome!) Anyways, I tag all of you, and if you do answer this questions, leave the link below so I can check it out!

1.What's your favorite nail polish company?
I really like nails inc., OPI, Essie, and Sally Hansen.

2. Glitter or no glitter?
Usually no glitter, but I do like a shine to the nail polish.

3. OPI, China Glaze, or Essie?
I've never tried China Glaze nail polish (although I really want to! Especially THG ones!) but I do like OPI and Essie. OPI's brushes sometimes have too much nail polish, but personally I like their color collection more.

4. When do you start to take off your nail polish?
I normally leave it on for a week because I usually paint my nails on the weekends, take it off Friday/Saturday, then paint them on Sat./Sunday. Sometimes they're super chipped, and other times they're not bad.

5. What's your favorite color on you nails?
I like mid-tone colors. Dark colors tend to wash me out, (but I do love them!) and very light colors I don't like as much, so probably some mid-tone pink or purple or something!

6. Dark or Light?
Honestly, it depends on my mood. And my mood usually leans toward the color that connects with the season. So right now, I really like deeper shades!

7. What are you wearing on your nails at the moment?
I have a NOTD here which actually only covers four nails! On my thumb on my left hand, I did a marble effect with Miss Bossy Pants (Sephora by OPI), E'nuf is E'nuf (Essie), and It's All About Me (Sephora by OPI). On my thumb on my right hand I used Mellow Yellow (Sally Hansen), It's Totally Karma (Sephora by OPI), and Whitehall (nails inc.). On my four other fingers, I also have It's Totally Karma.

8. Matte nails- in or out?
I do like matte nails, I'm wearing some right now (It's Totally Karma), but I do prefer non-matte a little more, whether they're glitters, some sheen, etc.

9. French Manicures?
   Yes! I love them!

10. Favorite fall color?
I really like Miss Bossy Pants which you can see in the last link I posted, and also Shue vs. Sue which is a navy with blue and purple iridescent shimmers (Sephora by OPI-both from the Glee Collection.)

Hope you all enjoyed,
Kait

NOTD: Sephora by OPI 'Miss Bossy Pants' (Glee Collection)

Hey everyone!
Sorry I've been MIA, I had no power! Anyway, today I am wearing Miss Bossy Pants' by Sephora by OPI from the Glee collection!
As you can see, it's a berry pink color with hot pink, purple, and blue shimmer! I really liken this nail polish-it's not super thick were it's all chunky on your nails, and not to thin where there's no color pay off or it's not showing up. So overall, I really recommend it!

Review: Soap and Glory's Glad Hair Day Shampoo

GLAD HAIR DAY™ SHAMPOO

Hey Everyone!
Today's review is on Glad Hair Day by Soap and Gory. I purchased this in the 'Do a Bubble Take Set' on Sephora, but I also found the shampoo alone on their website, here.
I absolutely love this shampoo! Since I have a small bottle, I don't really want to use it up fast, so what I do is I use my regular shampoo (a little less than usual) and lather that in my hair. Then I take a very small amount of this and lather that in my hair. I do this once every 2-3 weeks, because again, I don't have a ton.
The shampoo's consistency is very thick and when you put it on your hair, it lathers so, so well! I really like the scent, and it stays in for a whole day or so. I also think it cleans your hair great with out making it super clean. Overall, I really recommend this product!

New blog?!

Hey Everyone!
You may have noticed a contact me tag above. Yes it's new! I finally added one! Anyways, you may or may not know, but I created a new blog! Hence the title of my blog changed. My new blog will be dedicated to books and THG, so click here to check it out! It's called A Passion with Paperbacks. I hope you take some time and look at it!
Thanks,
Kait

Studying Tips!

Hey Everyone!
Today I have some quick studying tips for you that will hopefully help. I did a Homework Tips post and I asked you guys if you wanted to see more. So here's the 'more'.

  1. Write Notes or Vocab in Capital Letters: My teacher taught this to me this year. This is because when you write in lower-case your eyes follow the ups and downs and curves of the letter. When you write in all caps, it's easier and faster to read. i.e. YOU instead of you.
  2. Write in Pen: My teacher also taught this to me this year. It's the same idea of highlighting, but a little different. If you write in pen, those words will stand out more than any others or anything. For my vocabulary, my teacher tells us to write in all caps and in pen. The only words on the page are written in pen, but it helps keep you more focused.
  3. Study before Bed: Your mind is still working, for lack of a better word, when your sleeping, so you can remember what you were just thinking about than if you did it at another time.
  4. Eat: Eating will help keep your mind focused.
  5. Use a Strategy: For me, I find repetition works best. For some is might be mnemonics, or acronyms, etc.
Hope this helps! -Kait

Fall Fashion: Statement Scarves

Hey Girls!
I put together this outfit on Polyvore, and I wanted to share it with you! It's getting ready into fall, the scarf is a little more summer-y than a scarf I, personally, would wear in the middle-late fall. :) I also brought out the orange-red in the scarf with the nail polish, the plum-red in the bag, and the gold with the earrings and bracelet. I love statement scarves for fall, and in fact, I'm wearing one right now!

My Skincare Products and Use

Hey Everyone!
Today's blog post is on the three skincare products I love to use. My acne is not terrible, so this is a good routine for me and maintaining your skin. A little disclaimer is that I have not tried out so many products to have something to compare it to. I may say, "This is the best ___," but that's just the best for me. Long story short, some of these products you may love, while others-not so much. Anyways, let's get started!

*Links will take you to the product, all prices are USD.
1. Remove All Makeup
First I use my makeup remover, which technically isn't a skincare product, however it is the first product I use in my regimen. I use the Clinque Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes, and Lips. I got mine for $18 at Sephora. I really like this and it does take off makeup really well. It's not oil free, but you're only supposed to use on your eye area and lips. If you wanted to but this, but are worried it's going to make you oily, you can uses a wash cloth after and cleanse your face. :) I only wear mascara and eyeshadow, and sometimes concealer, so this works fine for me (for the concealer I will use a little of this; I will also use water, or my cleanser-it depends.) I use a cotton ball and gently rub it on my eyelids.

2. Exfoliate
Second I use my exfoliant. I use the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub which I got at Walmart for $4.47. I have a review here if you want to learn more. I take my finger and put a little bigger than a pea onto both my cheeks and forehead and take a smaller amount for my nose and chin.

3. Cleanse!
For cleansing my skin, I use my Fresh Soy Face Cleanser which I also got at Sephora. I absolutely love this stuff. It makes your skin really soft and it also takes off makeup well too. I highly recommend this! I also use a cotton ball and gently apply this all over my face. I take a wash cloth and lightly pat at my face.

4. Spot Treat
I use my CVS Pharmacy Targeted Acne Spot Treatment, which you can get at CVS. I have  review here. I do the same thing with the Clean and Clear product for application, but not as much. I do apply this all over my face because it helps maintain and prevent acne, but of course there's always that stubborn pimple!

That's all I do! I do all of this steps after my shower every other day, except cleansing because I don't have a lot of my Soy Face Cleanser. Thanks for reading! -Kait
