Homework Tips!

Hey Everyone!
I know today's post isn't a beauty post, but I wanted to share some (hopefully) helpful tips. I'm about a month into school, and homework has been starting to pick up. So far, this year hasn't been as bad as last year, but I'm still sticking to my homework schedule. Anyways, hopefully these tips might help you, and if you enjoy these, let me know because I will do any that you request!

-Do homework early
I start my homework when I get home from school. I say hi to the dogs and sit down for a minute or two, and then I start. I find this really helpful for me because that way, during the night I don't have to stress out about it. When I finish my homework it's still mid afternoon (usually) so I have an hour or two to spend before dinner.

-Set a reward
After I finish my homework, I let myself go onto the computer, check my blog, , Goodreads, etc. I don't let myself go on until after I finish my work. That way I have something small to look forward to after my homework, so I don't necessarily rush through it, but I don't sit there and get distracted. Which brings me to my next topic.

-Sit somewhere non-distracting
Distractions are very bad when you're doing your homework because not only can you not get your homework done, but it also brings your brain somewhere else, and therefore you might get that answer wrong because you're not focusing. If you sit somewhere quiet where no one is or the TV isn't on, it will help you focus a lot more which will  lead to better homework effort.

-Break it up
I have to admit that I am definitely a procrastinator. So if breaking your homework up is not something you can do (because once I start something-I will just do it until it's done), then I recommend this 'breaking it up' strategy. This is something I do and find it very useful. First, when I come home I do my written work and any essays that need to be typed. Then after dinner, if I need to, I will study, work on a project, edit my story (if I'm working on one for English), etc. That way it helps you break it up and your brain doesn't explode due to writing and doing homework and then cramming your brain from studying.

I hope these few tips help! I think I am going to do a studying tip blog post, and if you guys still like them, I will do more. Make sure you request if you have anything in particular! Thanks, Kait

My Top 5 Favorite Makeup Products and Books

Hey Everyone!
I really wanted to a book post today, but I have been doing those more than usual lately, so I decided to combine it with a beauty post too. Today I will be sharing you my 5 favorite makeup products and my 5 favorite books!

Makeup:
~Urban Decay Naked2 Palette
This palette has 12 eye shadows, and you can create so many looks with it. Here's my review.

~Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sin
I also have a review on this eyeshadow which you can check out here. (Which by the way, I hit pan on!)

~Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Ok, sorry for all the Urban Decay, but this is honest. Anyways, this eye primer really keeps your eyeshadow on all day long and I don't know what I would do without it!

~Revlon Lip Butters
These are amazing. They are very well pigmented and moisturizing too.

~MAC Sheertone Blush in Pinch O' Peach
First of all, the color of this blush is really pretty. It's your everyday average hot pink (but it's not that bright, if you keep reading you'll know why) with some peachy undertones. It's also matte. But the thing I love most about this blush is that it's a Sheertone Blush. You can build up the color so easily and well that you can go from looking like you have a little to no blush on and then to your cheeks are the main focus.... if that makes sense. :)

Books:
~The Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins
I'm not going to say much because I can make this post a whole lot longer, but I absolutely love this trilogy. Not because everyone loves it or any of that stuff but because of everything else, the characters, the plot, the idea, the writing, the story, the thoughts, etc. Quick story: I read this trilogy almost a year ago, I never liked reading much in 5th-the beginning of 7th grade, and then I read this and became an some-what avid reader. I realized books can be good! Like really, really, really, really, really- sorry. But The Hunger Games trilogy is AMAZING so if you haven't read it yet, clear your schedule for a few days and go to the bookstore. Now. :)

~The Divergent (yet to be) trilogy, Veronica Roth
The Divergent trilogy has 2/3 books out now and I am dying, DYING to read the 3rd one. But I have to wait a whole year!! Anyways, it's just amazing, depending on my mood I like it a little more then THG, most of the time there ties, but after watching THG 7 times on DVD, I like THG a little bit more. But they will soon be ties again. (As in I will like them the same.) I read Divergent the very beginning of March (I think March 1st actually) and got Insurgent (book 2) the day it came out, and I am planning to do the same with the 3rd one. :)

~Legend Trilogy, Marie Lu.
Long story, short, I love this book and I can't wait for the next two! I have a review here.

~Delirium trilogy, Lauren Oliver
The idea behind the books is so smart, (that love is a disease) and so intriguing, that I don't know it's just amazing. And the writing, oh the writing, is so beautiful! I personally like Pandemonium (Book 2) a lot more than Delirium, however I can not wait, literally can't wait, even more than all the other books, for the 3rd one, Requiem, to come out. I entered a contest to win it, but sadly I didn't win. But there will be more opportunities and if not, I will have to wait a couple months for it to come out!

~Ok so for my 5th favorite book-it's a tie, or should I say ties.
  1. Hush, Hush series (book review here.), Becca Fitzpatrick
  2. The Fault in our Stars, John Green
  3. Unwind Trilogy, Neal Shusterman
  4. The Wolves of Mercy Falls Trilogy (Shiver, Linger, Forever)
Honestly, I love all the books I have on my bookshelf (I will be doing a bookshelf tour soon) but these are my top! Check out my Goodreads to see my favorite books, books I'm reading/read and more!

TAG: 10 Questions About Me (Created by me!)

Hey Everyone!
I wanted to do a tag, and I thought why not create one? I'm not expecting this tag to actually be a 'tag' as in other people actually do it, but I thought you guys should know me more. I listed some simple, common questions down below that I will be answering, and then I will just list the questions below in case anyone intends to copy and paste them. I was going to do the 'Get to Know Me' Tag, but I thought this was easiest! Hope you enjoy!

1. What's your name?
My name is Kaitlyn, however, most of you know me as Kait!

2. Do you have any pets?
I have three, 1 Black Lab, 1 Mastiff, and 1 bunny!

3. Do you have any siblings?
I have one older brother.

4. Do you play any sports?
I actually just started dance classes, so if you count that, then dance. I did basketball for four years, but... let's just say I'm not doing it this year.

5. What do you like to do in your free time?
Read, write, hang out with friends, watch YouTube, those are a few!

6. Do you play any instruments?
This is my fourth year playing the viola. :)

7. Was/Are you a good student?
Yes I would say so, I'm part of a society that if you maintain a GPA of 5.7/6, you can be a part of. (Not trying to brag, I work really hard in school and glad it's paying off.)

8. What's a funny moment that happened in the past year?
At lunch last year, I was eating a dough pretzel and my friend turns around and accidentally smacks it out of my hand. Haha, I still laugh about it today.

9. What's a favorite accomplishment?
I'm really proud of my school grades and that I've kept playing the viola all these years and the person I've become. (I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true! :))

10. When's your birthday?
Mi cumpleanos feliz es el veinte y tres de abril, o en ingles, (or in English) April 23rd. (Sorry for not including accents and a tilda.)

Here are the questions in case you want to copy and paste them! I tag everyone reading this! :)

Book Review: Legend by Marie Lu

Hey Everyone!
I haven't done a book review in a while because I'm not sure if you guys like them or not. However, let me say this: THIS BOOK IS A-MAZING. I actually just typed this up as a school paper (it was supposed to be brief, but you know... that doesn't happen with me!) Anyways, here it is! I read Unwind the other day, so if you want to see a book review on that let me know, or any other book for that matter!

Legend by Marie Lu

The book Legend by Marie Lu has two main characters:  Day and June. The chapters switch on and off with their point of views. Day is the most wanted criminal; however he is not a mean person at all. He’s never killed anyone, so it’s safe to say he’s far from cruel. He is very smart, and quick.  Even some of his crimes were done to save people, but the Republic don’t see him as a good person.  On the other hand, June Iparis is the Republic’s prodigy, scoring at 1500/1500 on her Trial (the Trial is a huge test that you take showing your intelligence, physical agility and strength, etc. which you get tested on when your ten. This will determine where you will work and live). Therefore June’s also smart, strong, agile, perceptive and many more traits.

The story’s initial problem is that Day’s younger brother, Eden contracts the annual plague.  (Day’s family suspects he’s dead, except for his brother John, so he doesn’t live with his mother and two brothers.) Since Day and his family lives in the poor sectors of the city, they don’t have enough money to vaccinate Eden.  Moreover, this leads Day breaking into a hospital trying to attain the vaccines, only to find that the shipments aren’t in yet and nearly escaping the hospital. When Day almost reaches safety, a captain shows up. Day throws a knife hitting the captain in the shoulder. The next day, June receives a call saying her brother, Captain Metias, was murdered, and the prime suspect is Day. June seeks out revenge as Day and June’s paths cross, and together they figure out many secrets the government (the Republic) is holding.

This book was my favorite book that I read this summer.  I feel like both characters were displayed well and I really enjoyed reading more about them and who they were.  June is one of my favorite heroines I’ve read yet.  Day maintains his hold of being a criminal, but is still very caring. The book was faced past, and I wanted to read it more and more, finishing it in two days.  For instance, there were many parts I didn’t see coming like who really killed Metias and the Republic’s “annual” plagues.  I also really liked this government. It’s not your average dystopian government… at first.  I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it very much.

Hope you enjoyed! -Kait

Review: Maybeline Baby Lips

Hey Everyone!
Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm SPF 20 Pink Punch 25Today's review is on the Maybeline Baby Lips. Mine is in the color Pink Punch. Originally when I got this, I wanted a very light pink lip balm that just tints your lips. No no no. This is a lot more pigmented than I expected. When people said it was a little tint, I thought your lips would look natural with a hint of pink, but this makes them a pink. Just pink. It's not as pigmented as Revlon Lip Butters, and I find it harder to build up the color on this than the Revlon LB. But that does not mean this color is not build able. The balm itself is mosturizing too. I find it has a little bit more of a wet texture than an EOS, but it depends on what you like. This is sold at CVS for $3.99, and I would definately recommend you check this out for only four dollars! I think I mentioned everything, but if not, just leave a questions below! :) Kait

Pictture from the CVS link above.
I'm not affilated or being sposered or whatever by Maybeline. Honest Thoughts/Opinions. :)

My Favorite B&BW Scents

Hey Girls!
Today's post, I'm sharing you my 3 favorite scents from B&BW. I recommend them all if you haven't smelled them before.

1. Sweet Pea
B&BW Website (Sweet Pea):
Sweet Pea
I'm really bad at describing scents, but I love Sweet Pea. It's just a light scent that fruity and floral-y. I think anyone would like this scent because it has a little bit of everything.

2. Coconut Lime Breeze
B&BW (Coconut Lime Breeze)

Coconut Lime Breeze
I personally love this scent, probably my favorite. It has a light coconut scent which makes the sweet go really well with the citrus. If you hate coconut, I would still recommend you smell this in the store because it smells more 'sweet' than coconut. But if you love coconut, I really recommend this.

3. Aromatherpy 'Orange Ginger'
Aromatherapy > Energy

This scent smells exactly likes what it's called, orange and ginger. I'm personally not a huge fan of overwhelming ginger scents, but this one has the perfect blend of orange and ginger.

Hope you all enjoyed!

TAG: My Furry Friend!

Hey Everyone!
I know I haven't done a beauty post in a little bit (I don't really count NOTD), and I'm not going to give excuses, but if you have any requests, I'd love to hear them! Anyways, Becca from Looks and Books with Becca did this post, and I wanted to do it! I tag all of you, so if you do do it, let me know because I will definitely check it out. For those who don't know, I have 3 pets in my house. I couldn't decide on just one, so I think I am going to do three of these. However, I will be spacing them out.

1.What is your pet's name?
My bunny's name is Oreo. You can't see it in this picture, but she has gray paws!

2.What kind of pet is it and what breed?
As you can tell, she is a bunny. She's a dwarf bunny, although I'm not sure of the exact kind.

3.How long have you had your pet?
I got her as an early birthday present on April 4, 2009, so about 3 years and half.

4.How did you get your pet?
My dad's dad's friend (lol) sold bunnies.

5.How old is your pet?
Bunne's birthday is Feb. 12, 2009, so she's a little over 3 years and half old.

6.What are some quirky things about your pets personality?
She used to be very crazy at night time, but she's quieter now. She also used to be stubborn when it was time to go back into her cage. But now she kind of hops in her cage and I close the door.

7.What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?
I love Bunne!! It's hard to have a very intimate relationship with a bunny, but I love her. :)

8.What are some of your favorite past times with your pet?
When I first got her, she was up in my room. Until she got crazy at night-then I couldn't sleep. But I used to take her out of her cage everyday and play with her.

9.What are nicknames that you call your pet?
I call her Bunne all the time. Like 90% more than Oreo. I decided I should spell it with an 'e' because it's not like I'm calling a dog 'dog'. But also Bunna when she does something really cute.

I hope you enjoyed! Look out for the next two on my dogs! They'll be up soon. :)
